Inspired by Nature
Sustainability is not a trend. It is a responsibility. A look at the commitments guiding By Pryter — from responsible sourcing to a future of integrated cultivation.
Everything we make begins with something nature made first. The root, the herbs, the sweetness — none of it is ours; we simply borrow it, shape it, and pass it on. That is why sustainability at By Pryter is not a page on a website or a line in a brochure. As we put it in our own commitment: sustainability is not a trend. It is a responsibility.
Inspired by traditional botanical wisdom and modern sustainable values, we have set ourselves a simple test for every decision, from sourcing to shipping: does this respect the nature that made it possible? Where the honest answer is “not yet”, we treat that as a direction, not a defeat.
The commitments
Our sustainability commitment rests on five long-term objectives:
- Responsible ingredient sourcing
- Sustainable agricultural partnerships
- Environmentally conscious packaging
- Waste reduction initiatives
- Support for local communities
Each one is deliberately practical. Responsible ingredient sourcing means knowing where our botanicals come from and choosing suppliers who share our values. Sustainable agricultural partnerships mean working with growers for the long term, not the next order. Environmentally conscious packaging means materials chosen with their whole life in mind, not just the moment of unboxing. Waste reduction means making what is needed, carefully. And supporting local communities means remembering that a supply chain is made of people before it is made of anything else.
Rooted in the farm-to-table idea
By Pryter is rooted in sustainable agricultural principles and farm-to-table traditions — the belief that the closer you stand to the source of an ingredient, the better you treat it. It shapes what goes into the collection today, from the Classic Licorice to the Seasonal Creations, whose limited editions take their cues from nature, regional ingredients, and the rhythm of the seasons.
The same thinking reaches the table. When ingredients are treated well from the start, the finished confection needs less persuading — the flavor is simply there, the way nature made it. That, more than any pledge, is what sustainability tastes like to us.
Where this is heading
The most exciting part of the vision is still ahead of us. Our future plans include integrated agricultural cultivation — growing closer to our own ingredients — alongside dedicated botanical ingredient sourcing and environmentally responsible production systems. It is an ambitious path for a confectionery maker, and that is rather the point: if the sweetest things deserve care, they deserve it all the way down to the soil.
We will not pretend any of this happens overnight. But we believe every small step contributes to a better future — and we would rather take honest small steps than make grand claims. The journey is just beginning. And the sweetest chapters are still to come.
